You can write a bio for them, if you like. ❀ whoever's character design I like best will win, and you get to keep the character to use as you please. If you do a well thought-out bio, it might add some extra points :> ❀ I'd prefer humans as my original characters (who these boards are based off of) were humans, but go ahead and draw an animal if it's easier for you.
