•Move your mouse to move Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that crashed on the 8th of march. •The ping delay list is to note the time lag between pings •The pings variable is for you to know how many pings have been sent. •All you ever wanted to know about the Doppler effect can be found underneath •FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER USED LISTS. YAY!!!
The plane is emitting a "ping". The time lag between pings is noted on the list called ping delay. The pings variable is increased every time a ping is sent. The number of received pings on the ping delay list isn't always equal to the pings variable because not all pings are received from the satellite as some are sent too far away. As the plane moves farther away from the satellite, you may notice that the time lag increases and that sometimes the ping doesn't reach the satellite at all. The opposite happens when the plane moves closer. This means that when the plane gets closer to the satellite, the pings get cramped together and if you were in real life to measure the frequency of pings, the frequency would be higher then when the plane moves away. This is called the Doppler effect and it was used to locate the crash site of flight MH370 in real life.
