Calder Pillay and Petra Andalee have always lived on the same street but, never really knew each other. Calder was good great at solving patterns and puzzles and liked pentominoes. Petra on the other hand liked looking closely at things and seeing shapes all over the place. When their teacher Ms. Hussey asked the class to find art in their houses Petra was up to the challenge. At her favorite bookstore Powell’s, she found a venerable book labeled Lo! by, Charles Fort so, she bought it and the next day shared it with not only the class but, Calder in person to! When Calder was searching he found a painting. When he was delivering books to an over the hill lady named Mrs. Sharpe. Calder mentioned that the book Lo! had her name in it so she wanted to talk about it with Calder and Petra. While he was there he noticed the painting that he saw at his house, so Mrs. Sharpe told Calder that it was called “ The Geographer” by Vermeer. She suggested that he check out a book on Vermeer, so he did and learned about him!
