About Yeon-mi: Yeonmi Park is a North Korean defector, and a human rights activist. In 2007, she escaped from North Korea, and now has dedicated her life to helping those who are still suffering in her country, by working in nonprofit organizations that provide help crossing the border, and education. Despite her young age, she has helped and inspired thousands across the globe. Though she could now live an easy life with her family, she continues to risk her life for the good of her people. I believe she is a true hero, and a role model~ About the art: This took me approximately eight hours. I haven't even tried drawing realistically since I was about ten years old, (And you can guess how that went oof) so this was a challenge for me. I am very glad that I decided to come out of my extremely stylized comfort zone for this drawing. Studying the real-life picture more closely, and trying to replicate that really helped me with shading, lighting, and even anatomy! I highly recommend trying it if youre like me, and usually only draw in a very stylized fashion.
