Instructions

One day the birds got their colors. The parrot was happy to get such a colorful set of feathers and a lovely song. He was so vain he flew out of his home to brag. He flew to the house of the humming bird. He sang, “I am the most beautiful beast of the forest!” the humming bird buzzed back, “I am the fastest bird in the forest, so quit bragging!” the parrot always imitated what he heard, so when he flew to the home of the wolf, he bragged, “I am the most beautiful beast of the forest, I am the fastest bird in the forest!” the wolf growled back, “I am the most strong, so if you brag in my home again, you will be my refreshing snack.” The parrot flew on to the home of the lion, lord of the beasts. “I am the most beautiful beast in the forest; I am the fastest bird in the forest; I am the strongest!” the lion roared back “but I am the lord of the beasts!” the lion, the wolf, and the humming bird compromised a solution: to make a beautiful, strong, fast bird. They combined their hidden powers at the light of a meteor shower. A small, blue chick with the most amazing tail feathers was born. The three raised it until it was old enough for its own home. The parrot flew to the peacock’s home to see the peacock’s beauty. The peacock declared a battle of strength, swiftness and wits. They began! the parrot sailed into the sky to escape a kick from the peacock, but he was weighed down by his colorful feathers. The peacock kicked him and he was knocked out of the ring! The parrot admitted in front of the forest that he was not the strongest, fastest or most beautiful. The animals punished the braggart by taking away his song and replacing it with a squawk. The parrot was still a master imitator. ”never pretend to be something you’re not, it may be your downfall.”
