************************************************************** 9/24/18 Y'all I just saw this project under What the Community is Loving so I just wanted to thank you all so much for your support! :D ************************************************************** HOW TO PLAY: -Shift-click the green flag to put the game in turbo mode (recommended) -Click the flag a good few times for optimal quality, yo! -Press left and right arrows to move around. -Press down arrow to interact with characters. -Press space to advance through dialogue. -Press up arrow to check your pockets. ************************************************************** FAQ's: "How do I use items?" - There's no need! The coding automatically uses the items so you don't have to worry about it. If you think you need to use an item but nothing's happening, you probably need to think of a different solution. "How do I jump?" - You don't! The format of the game doesn't require jumping so I didn't add it, seeing as it would be utterly useless and it clutters up the code. If you really want to jump though, I believe @REMOTE-756474 has made a remix with jumping capabilities. "Is (x part) unfinished?" - Although this is a beta, the game runs all the way to completion and no part is technically unfinished. If you can't proceed, there is either a bug or a solution you haven't found yet. If you suspect the former, please let me know. "How do I play?" - The instructions are right up there ^^^ read them. If you still need help, read the hints bar (press H to bring it up and press keys 1-9 to cycle through hints; click to make it go away). "Can you make (x major change to the storyline or basic coding of the game)?" - No. The game is in beta mode, but all updates will be for aesthetic purposes. The most intense coding I plan to do on this project from this point is bug-fixing and possible menu upgrades. "I can't talk to (character)!" - Well, you probably can, unless it's Snowball when he's asleep. The coding should allow you to interact with any awake character at any time, even if they don't currently have any quests available. Rocky and Teardrop are not known for being talkative, so they will most likely just look at you, however both are known to give you items at the proper times. ************************************************************** DISCLAIMER: I am happy to take criticism for this game and any complaints you have are fully welcomed. However, unnecessarily rude or bullying comments, as well as advertising, spam, and comments that could be viewed as offensive will be reported or deleted (depending on the comment) without any questions asked. So please think about what you comment. Overall, this comment section has been great; this is just a friendly reminder! ************************************************************** SYNOPSIS: (Won't make a lot of sense if you're not familiar with BFDI, but the game is still fully playable) Leafy and Firey were hanging out together, and decided to go play at the Cake at Stake place. While there, Firey saw the cake for the next Cake at Stake, and wanted to try it. He brought it over to Leafy to show it to her, while she came across an odd looking remote. Pressing a button, Leafy accidentally activated the "sender scoop thrower" and launched the cake off beyond the horizon. When the announcer found out, he told them they had to find the cake or they were eliminated. Apparently, the cake was extra-durable so it should still be in perfect condition for Cake at Stake use. Not wanting to waste the show's thin budget, the announcer told Leafy and Firey to find the cake as fast as possible so it would be ready for the next Cake at Stake. ************************************************************** CREDITS: -All backgrounds, art, coding, and dialogue is by me. -Most of the art and the concept for the game is directly inspired by jacknjellify's "Battle for Dream Island" on YouTube. -Music is "F17" by @official-vexento ************************************************************** UPDATE INFO: This is the BETA version of the game. It is fully playable, but updates are on the way. I plan for v1 to include: -smoother graphics -music from the "Battle for BFDI" OST -improved menu Other potential future updates include: -full cartoon of the synopsis -item get alerts -sound effects -dynamic (moving) backgrounds Please suggest other updates in the comments! If this project gets popular enough, I may consider making a sequel! ************************************************************** 7/27/18 - original beta shared 9/12/18 - minor bug fix; slight modification of notes to prioritize the instructions over the synopsis CURATED on 9/23/18! Thanks to @LovelyOtter !
