Instructions

Fibonacci Sunflower 7 (Pen Version) - Click the Green Flag. Use the Slider to change the number of colours (0-21) used. Select 0 to trace out the single Spiral. Click the Stage to switch backdrops. This version models this real Sunflower with 55 anticlockwise and 34 clockwise Spirals. There's a bonus too, drawn with 8, 9 or 18 colours, a new set of 144 Spirals is revealed (8x18 & 9x16 = 144, 13th term of the Fibonacci Series). Mathematics in nature is truly a beautiful thing!

Description

Created by @gregatku for use in Classes for Kids Unlimited. The FINAL follow-up to the Fibonacci Spiral exercise. Here we draw "florets" in ever (slightly) decreasing size using Pen Down/Pen Up with the Scratch Pen. Each floret is drawn after turning the number of degrees that divides the circumference of a circle into 2 arcs that are in the Golden Ratio with each other (the Golden Angle - close to 137.5 degrees).
