Esproc was gathering herbs in his back garden when he heard hushed voices coming from his house. He glanced at his open door, but he couldn't see anything inside. Confused, he dropped the plants and stepped into the doorway. The room opened up into a den, a table with six chairs placed neatly around it. Esproc took another step forward. Three shadowy figures were gathered around his table. He almost hadn't noticed them because they seemed to blend in with the darkness. He quickly turned the lights on, wincing at the brightness that flooded his vision. Everything was white for a few seconds. A moment later, when his eyes adjusted, he got a good look at the things sitting around his table. The smallest of them -who still seemed rather large- was furiously scribbling on paper. "Hello?" Esproc called out, his voice shaking. The whispers cut off abruptly as the human-shaped figures glanced at him. He caught small snips of their conversation, but he couldn't understand the words. The biggest stood up and stared at him. It stepped into the light and Esproc gasped. The creature was startling beautiful; it had a bald head with fern-shaped horns and mint green skin that seemed to shimmer. The only thing that stopped Esproc from being amazed and dazzled by the sight was the creature's eyes; blank, dark orbs that seemed to gaze deep into your soul and crush it, wrapping it in darkness. He took a step backwards. Whoever --or whatever- these things were, he didn't want to be near them, even if they were in his own house. He knew he should run, or scream for help, or even call someone to arrest them for trespassing, but he couldn't say anything. His throat felt as if it were burning, rubbed raw by invisible thorns. He went stiff as more whispering sounded from the table, and he felt vine-like things squeezing around his legs. Esproc looked down, feeling queasy. He tried to scream, but he still could not make any noises. The vine, which was as dark and blank as the biggest creature's eyes, lacked texture and felt colder than ice water. It stung his skin and yet was numbing at the same time. He tried to pull it off, but his hands became stuck to it and the black vines wrapped around his arms, as well. It spread up to his neck and along his chest. Esproc couldn't feel anything as it crept up to his chin and then finally enclosed him in darkness.
ee i heard this song and immediantly fell in love-- it reminded me a lot of what i have planned for esproc's ''death'' so i made a little sneak peak <3 Song: Dead Hearts by Stars the creatures (known as ''the muses'') have eyes that glow in the dark which is why i drew them that way in the picture even though in the story i described them as ''blank, dark orbs''
