Grayson and Jonah used to be best friends when they where little, but then Grayson just grew up and started pushing all his friends away including Jonah. because Jonah relies on making his friends happy way to much and feels solely responsible if his friends are upset/unhappy it hit him pretty hard. What I imagine happens in this: Grayson runs into Jonah at a grocery store. Grayson acknowledges Jonah's existence for the first time in YEARS with a 'Hey.' Jonah freaks out with excitement assuming they are friends again. He is incorrect and Grayson is annoyed.
