The Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra by Bach, BWV 1043, played by Itzhak Perlman and Issac Stern. A "Scratch Classical Broadcast." ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Johann Sebastian Bach, (1685-1750) was a Baroque composer of classical music. His music is known for it's intellectual quality and often had mathematical codes inside it. (Once, he even wrote a piece of music based on his name!) His Brandenburg Concertos, the famous Tocatta and Fugue (yes, that organ song often associated with Dracula, Halloween, and horror movies), the 48 Preludes and Fugues, the 30 Two and Three Part Inventions, are all examples of his finest work. ABOUT THE PERFORMERS: Itzhak Perlman (b. 1945 in Tel Aviv) is a violinist and conductor. He studied with Ivan Galamian at the prestigious Juiliard School in the US. You definitely have heard him before (he was the violinist playing "Schindler's List" in the film of the same name), for he has recorded many of the soundtracks you hear in the movies, in addition to classical music. He also played during Obama's inaguration. Issac Stern (1920-2001) is a Ukranian violin virtuoso. He studied at the San Fransisco Conservatory of Music and is considered one of the best violinists of the 20th century. The "Issac Stern Auditorium" (aka Carnegie Hall) is named after him. He died at the age of 81 due to heart failure.
