And then, click the green flag. :) I’ve never done a project translating a Russian song to English, so I decided to make a project for a song in Russian. Yay, finally a project in ages! The song is “Я…….Я” by Потап и Настя (Potap and Nastya). The original translation on LyricsTranslate sounded identical to Google Translate's translation, so I reported the translation for being a machine translation. I used that translation and fixed up everything that sounded incorrect. See the improved translation I submitted here: http://lyricstranslate.com/en/yaya-%D1%8F%D1%8F-poisonous.html Notes about the trickier lyrics: “Змея любовь гремучая”: The word order is strange in this one—the literal translation is “Snake love rattlesnake”. Normally, a rattlesnake is called “гремучая змея”, but to fit with the rhyming pattern of the song, the word order was arranged this way without making much sense (and, not to mention that song lyrics are beyond the rules of word order in Russian, haha). The intended meaning is “Love is a rattle snake”. “Любовь – ядовитая, я сделал замах”: “Я сделал замах” was translated as “I made a swing”, which is correct—only, it is unclear in the context. To make it clearer, I translated it as “I took a swing”, which is what English speakers would be more likely to say for giving something a try. "Ничего, не впервой ухожу в темноту": "Ничего" means "nothing", but in Russian, it is also used to say "it doesn't matter" or "it's nothing". “Одиноко примирение скитается”: This was translated as “Lonely trying on wanderings”, but this, of course, makes no sense. The lyric actually means “Reconciliation is wandering alone”. This is another one where word order is strange! “И я удерживаю крышу не давая съехать, о...”: This literally means “And I keep the roof from letting me in, oh...”. Here, there is the idiom “крыша поехала” (literally “roof went”), which means “having lost one’s mind”. This means, the lyric should be translated as “And I keep myself from losing my mind, oh...”. The font I used for the lyrics is Tinos. The second verse of the chorus is in Underdog, but I adjusted the “Я”s slightly. Both fonts are from Google Fonts. The thumbnail originally started out with Underdog, but I adjusted it using Inkscape. I made all the visuals in this project with Inkscape, but I used Google Drawings for the lyrics (not in the second verse of the chorus). Dev Log: 20/7/17: Shared!
