Description

Amagad is a religion with so far, exactly two members: Iahawkeye http://scratch.mit.edu/users/iahawkeye and me. I put it out here to find some like-minds I could talk to. The main concept is about something called THE GREAT BATTLE which is based in the belief that life is h#ll and the only thing that makes it bearable is intervention. No matter how tiring, we cannot surrender to depression, inhumanity, and bad luck. This is the battle and its interminability can be both inspiration and despair. The closest introduction to religion I ever got from my mom was being in a Catholic preschool when I was very young. However, I wasn't considered Catholic or anything really. I didn't really begin an interest in spirituality until 2005 when I was seven and began watching Avatar: the Last Airbender. This set me on a wild goose-chase for a belief I could base myself in. I have unofficially been a Taoist, Hindu, Buddhist, Wicca, and, to this day, I attend a Unitarian Church. But, honestly, none suited me. Amagad actually began as a science project that I did not get a very good grade on because we were supposed to be talking about cells. While the the first 24 slides are simply what the story has evolved into over time, the last are the metaphorical epiphanies I have had in my hours of darkness. I do not believe the sun is a giant dragon that died to end our suffering. If this ever becomes an actual thing I would like this to say that I do not think this should be taken so seriously as to over rule science and evidence. It is, once again, only a metaphor for "sh*t happens". Also, If you have an interest in other contemplations of this idea, I highly suggest reading Lois Lowery's The Giver. The description of how a society is based simply in infinite sustenation without purpose is a masterpiece.
