Yes, it is possible to create other shapes with a few minor tweaks. While viewing @soillcallhimsquishy's take on the project, and how he was able to edit the side views, the ability to make this popped into my head. If you are to create something like this, I recommend coloring every single layer a different color based on shading. Then, it will look visible. Also, make sure to change the size as well. It helps with the visibility. Though subtle, it makes the viewing a bit easier. You can virtually do anything with this, from making a sword to doing a top- down view of a landscape, like I did.
