Instructions

Sweetberry sighed as Marshkit and Tumblekit bounded into the warriors den in a flurry of tiny paws and tails. Tumblekit, looking so much like his father, her son Rabbitblaze, shook his brown tabby fur and blinked his amber eyes happily at Sweetberry. Tumblekit pounced on her long creamy tail, and Sweetberry gave a purr. Suddenly, Marshkit cannoned into his brother, and Tumblekit's pale blue eyes stretched wide in shock as the larger kit knocked him off his paws. Then his eyes gleamed mischievously, and he started chasing Marshkit in circles. Soon both lay panting in front of her. "Sweetberry, can we come with you on patrol?" asked Marshkit. "Did you check with your Splashwhisker before you came to me?" Sweetberry asked. Marshkit shuffled his white paws, and Tumblekit gave his mottled pelt a couple of swift licks. "Alright, I will take you out of camp, but very far, and certainly not to the border." Marshkit nodded vigorously. "Let's go!" exclaimed Tumblekit. They padded out of camp. Sweetberry made sure they were right behind her. Tumblekit sniffed the air curiously, then sprang onto a fern and reappeared with a small mouse in his jaws. "Good catch," meowed Sweetberry, pleased. "I'm going to be the best warrior in RiverClan!" the little kit announced proudly. "RiverClan eat fish, silly," countered Marshkit. Sweetberry quickly stepped in before they could start bickering. "Let's go to that stream," she broke in, gesturing to the tiny path of the water that bordered on part of the reed-encircled camp. The kits eagerly followed her. The water was cold, but not cold enough so they couldn't swim in it. "Try and catch a minnow, Marshkit," she suggested. Marshkit's bright eyes focused on the water. A couple of times his paw shot in and came out with nothing, but on the third try he managed to hook a slim, gray-green minnow. Silver scales shimmered on the fins as Marshkit picked up his prey by the tail. "Okay, okay, that's enough. We're going back to camp," she told the kits, who reluctantly agreed. She was so proud of them. Splashwhisker was the perfect mate for her son, and they had two wonderful kits. Everything was just how it should be.
