Description

“That can’t be possible, right?” Jayfeather was speechless. “Jayfeather?” I think I found out how to make it look like I don’t have wings. Is this a dream? Jayfeather didn’t say anything, he just took me back to camp. Nothing really happened during the last few moons. Well, almost nothing... Apparently, kits are not allowed to exit camp, unless allowed by like, Bramblestar. Here is how it went I snuck out of camp to hunt, it was leaf-bare, and everyone was hungry. I thought that if I caught something, I would help the clan. I had snuck out, by a tunnel in the camp. Nobody else knew about it. I went into an area that was not the first place someone else would look for me. Nobody is here, at least, nobody I can see. I saw a rabbit, thin, but it would help the clan. Of course I chased after it. Someone followed me. “Hi Ravenkit!” Oh, it was Darkkit. Darkkit is one moon older than me, and he has dark brown fur. There is thick, long fur going over his paws. Darkkit sprinted forward, then got stuck in a thornbush. Sometimes I wonder If he thinks about what he is doing. He scared the rabbit, which went in my direction. I caught it, then realized that if I brought this to camp, I would still get in trouble. “Ravenkit and Darkkit, what are you doing?” Uh-oh, just got caught “I wanted to show Ravenkit that I could catch prey! So I brought her out her!” What? Darkkit was taking the blame? “Well, you ran into a thornbush, then I caught the prey you were going to catch!” I teased Darkkit. “Well, you still shouldn’t be out here hunting, there was a fox spotted a few sunrises ago!” I glared at Dovewing “Why do we have to be stuck in camp all of the time, it so boring!” “Because it keeps kits safe and from wandering! And there are foxes and badgers outside of camp!” she paused “and, you two are to take care of the elders.” “But Dovewing, I already help Jayfeather with everything! And I become an apprentice next moon!” Dovewing shook her head. Darkkit was unusually quiet Which is why I was surprised when he burst out with “But I’m becoming an apprentice today!” “That depends on what BrambleStar decides. Ravenkit, Jayfeather will decide your punishment because he has chosen to take care of you, and how you should be punished.” Ouch, that must have hurt Darkkit more than Dovewing meant. We were brought back to camp. BrambleStar let Darkkit become an apprentice, but he had to stay in camp and take care of the elders for seven sun-rises I was lucky Jayfeather was taking care of me, I just had to help him collect herbs. “Ravenpaw! Ravenpaw!” Finally an apprentice! Featherpaw and Bramblepaw were cheering the loudest. I was a medicine cat apprentice, so stuck with Jayfeather. He is nice when you get to know him, but sometimes he is just in a bad mood. The half-moon is in two sun-rises! I can’t wait to see StarClan! I didn’t learn much before I met StarClan, since I learned a lot when I was a kit. Nothing interesting happened anyways. As I walk to the Moon Pool, I think about what has happened to me. “SUPRISE!” Jayfeather and I jumped. Oh, just Featherpaw. “I wanted to----” Featherpaw stopped talking, and spun around. “Intruders!” “ Ravenpaw, you need to hide.” “Why Jayfeather?” “You can’t defend yourself, and the other reason.” Oh, good point. I nodded at him, then remembered he was blind. But by then, the fight was over. “I-I fought them off, but then they disappeared. Ravenpaw, I remember when you first came to camp, you were so tiny! I heard what Jayfeather said, by the lake. He said you had.. He said you....” “No, Feathersong, don’t die!” There was blood flowing from her neck, but too deep. It was much too deep. “Come on Ravenpaw, It’s too late and we have to get to the Moon Pool.” I didn’t have to say anything, he knew I was following him. It was a silent trip to the Moon Pool, and we were a bit late. “We were attacked, and Featherpaw died.” That was Jayfeather’s explanation to why we were late. "Ravenpaw, is it your wish to enter into the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?" "It is." "Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the life of medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance to your will." I put my nose on the Moon Pool, and Visited StarClan Apparently they were surprised. After a moment, a cat stepped forward. “Welcome to StarClan young one.” What is happening? I barely heard him. My mind hurts. I-I-I remember! I remember everything! And I understood what I had done. Why I hid my memory. “I REMEMBER!” StarClan was surprised even more. “What do you remember?” The cat had fiery orange fur. “Everything. Why I am here. Why I have hidden my own memory. Why I am a cat standing in front of StarClan. And I remember it all!” I laughed to myself. Was I crazy enough to do this to myself? “We have a prophecy for you.” “When the moon is bloodred, and the clans are betrayed. A battle will be fought, and a warrior is born.”
