Description

Music- Little Idea, Bensound This is a pretty watered-down, simple explanation, so that everyone should be able to understand it. I didn't go into huge detail, and I know that there are generalizations here that don't fit everything and everyone. I only discussed American policy because that's what I'm familiar with. Agnostics are different from atheists, but they share some similarities. Agnostics are people who believe that a God or gods cannot be proven or disproven. It's noteworthy that atheists don't even necessarily believe that science has all the answers that religion tries to answer. Everyone's beliefs are different, which makes it even more important not to put atheists under any umbrella terms or assumptions. In America, lots of laws are made that rule everyone but that are based in Christianity, which can make some big problems. An example of this is women's access to abortion rights. A lot of Christians believe that abortion is bad and shouldn't be allowed because of the Bible, and they think that it's okay to make decisions for other people based on their beliefs. Non-Christians aren't okay with this because it means that someone else who believes in something else is making decisions for them based on their different beliefs... and it's against the Constitution! (our rulebook) As @Swzti pointed out, most atheists are also careful to be knowledgeable about religions and we often read holy texts such as the Bible. For a lot of us, it's important for us to stay informed about cultures other than our own!
