CHECK NOTES & CREDITS FOR PARTS STILL OPEN - - - - - - As some of you may know, my birthday is in June. But what many of you don’t know is that June is also the birthday month for my two best friends, Becky and Jimmy! In fact, all three of our birthdays are within 2 weeks of each other! And for many years now, we have celebrated our birthdays together. Which, given how close the three of us are, makes the celebrations all the more special <3 This year, I thought it would be fun to create a project on Scratch as a sort of birthday card/present/thank you. But I wasn’t really sure where to begin. When thinking about what that project might look like I found myself reflecting on our friendship and how much theirs mean to me. That’s when I had the idea to make an animation to the classic song “I’ll be there for you” by the Rembrandts - an adorable song about friendship (also, known to many as the theme song for the TV show “Friends” - and, of course, a show all three of us love :P). But rather than making the animation on my own, I really wanted to make something with members of the Scratch Community. Both Becky and Jimmy have sat with me for hours looking through adorable and inspiring Scratch projects, and I think they would really love something that included the community! :) So! I’ve decided to turn the animation into a MAP! And that’s where you all come in :D =====================Logistics====================== + This song is about friendship. So I want the theme of the MAP to reflect this. If you have a part, think about the friendships that mean something to you, about your best friends, and let that be the inspiration for your part :) + There are 19 parts up for grabs. One part per person. Please comment 2-3 parts you might want to do (saying them in order of preference), and I’ll let you know later which part you got! I won’t be announcing parts right away, so please be patient with me as I figure out who will be doing what :) + Part 13/14 are instrumental - I may be willing to give both parts to one person. If you would be interested in doing both instrumental parts, let me know. (Note that I may still split them up between two people.) + I will do both the intro and the ending, so if you take part 1 or part 19, don't worry about introducing/closing the project + Pieces of the song have been cut up into parts. When you know that you will be doing a part, remix this project so I can keep track of all the different pieces. (I'll confirm with people to let them know which parts they have) + Please be sure to LABEL all your sprites/backgrounds according to which part you have. For example, if you are Part 7, your background/sprite names should include "Part 7". + Please do not add watermarks, I will take care of this. + Try to use this coding format to start your part: [when flag clicked] > [hide] ... and... [when received Part (your part)] > [coding for the part] > [hide]. See example inside. Also feel free to ask me questions. + THIS IS IMPORTANT: I want to share this with them at the half way mark between our birthdays (June 14). So you must have your part done and shared by June 9 - this will give me enough time to put everything together. + If you've read all this, you are awesome. To let me know you are serious in participating in this MAP, please do the following things: 1) share one word that describes what friendship means to you and 2) tell me you can complete your part by June 9th + Don’t forget to list the 2-3 parts you would be interested in doing and in the order you would prefer. Please also provide links to some animations you have done in the past. + If there is more interest than there are parts, please keep in mind that not everyone will be able to participate in the completed MAP. But that does not mean that you can't remix anyway! I would still love to see what you create :) + This is something I am really excited about. I did one sprite for the animation then another for the backdrops. Storyline: "Someone to face the day with," Nova is falling into the abyss of life (The first scene), "Make it through all the rest with," but when her friend is at her side (The second scene), "Someone I'll always laugh with," she launches into it and knows with his help that she can defeat her troubles (The third scene). "Even at my worst, I'm at my best with you," Even when she's at her worst (the fourth scene), her friend is always there to return her to her best (The fifth scene). This was really fun to do. XD
