Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was one of the most important classical music composer of the classical time period (around 1750-1820) and the originator of romantism (around 1810-1930). He was born on December 15, in Bonn, Germany and died on March 27, in Vienna, Austria. He was the son of Maria Magdalena Keverich and of Johann van Beethoven. His father, Johann, often drunk a lot and got drunk, but when Ludwig was born he stopped. Johann taught Ludwig how to play the piano and violin, but he was very strict with it. When Ludwig's grandpa died, Johann started to drink again. He began being much, much, much more strict and said bad things to Ludwig. Soon he got a new music teacher whom with Beethoven learned to play the organ. When he was around 30 years old, he started getting deaf. Around the beginning of the French revolution, Beethoven went to Vienna (at the time the center of music and art), where a lot of people were used to the classical and baroque style, so they didn't always like his music.
