The Vortex is getting stronger than before and newer and more feirce enemies come into play. Happy Face is introduced in this episode, he rarely comes to the frontlines but never initiates combat. He is only around to 'shake things up'. Veck returns, with wounds fully patched. Now Jack can only depend on his quick reflexes and fast whits. Other characters like Krazee (the Jockey from ep. 1) and The Archer (name speaks all) from the first one will return, just not in this episode.
