She gave birth to four, hidden alone under a boulder on the moor, with no comfort, no medicine cat. One of the kits, Specklekit, died soon after. Heart twisted with grief and love for the daughter she had never met, Sweetberry carried the kits to WindClan camp, hoping for safety. WindClan thought Stoatfur, a WindClan warrior who had died a moon earlier in battle, fathered the three kits, and Sweetberry let them believe it. When they were a moon old, Sweetberry took them to Ripplestrike. But she wasn't careful enough. The WindClan leader, Harestar, was leading a patrol to the border, and spotted her. At first, he thought Ripplestrike was attacking. Then he saw her kits, and immediately knew. One kit, Silverkit, was a miniature version of the RiverClan warrior that stood before him. Another, Rabbitkit, had his broad shoulders and long tail. He hadn't realized until that moment, but seeing them right next to Ripplestrike . . . . they were obviously half RiverClan. Furious at his trusted deputy's betrayal, he ordered her to leave WindClan, and never return. Horrified that she had been so careless, Sweetberry fled to RiverClan, seeking shelter for her kits and herself. The RiverClan leader, Driftstar, was fair and kind, so when he heard what she had been through, he accepted her into RiverClan, where she became a loyal and respected warrior.
