Instructions

I have a growing interest in 3-D printers, and decided to make an animation of how they work. An extrusion printer has a moving head that has a heated tip. There is a motor that pushes a plastic cable into the head. the cable melts, and is squeezed out of a hole in the tip. As the head moves, it lays down a stream of plastic, which quickly cools. A liquid resin printer has a basin of resin that is cured by ultraviolet light. There is a special projector underneath that shoots a pattern of infrared light instead of visible light. It projects a pattern on the resin, curing the resin in the shape of the pattern. The cured resin is raised, and the projector projects another pattern, then the whole process starts over again.
