Story Title: Life without the pack. Extract: Word 1-204 (Sorry! Is it okay I went 4 over the limit?) “Get out!” screamed Alpha Rurl. “But!” started Ulfur. “Out!” Ulfur started walking away, it was hard to ignore the whispers and looks he was getting from the crowd. “Look at his eyes,” Mirie whispered. “We all have brown eyes but his…” Dirn commented quietly. “Look at his ear!” Greya shouted. Everyone started howling with laughter. At least the mood changed, Ulfur thought. But now I feel even worse. Ulfur was a snow-white wolf with brilliant blue eyes and one black ear. When he was introduced to the pack for the first time, his mother covered his eyes and pretended he was blind, in fear of them kicking him out immediately. “Ulfur…” Sumi started. “I have to go mother” Ulfur said, nuzzling Sumi, “But I will miss you,” “I will miss you too,” Sumi said, stifling a whimper, “Be safe,” “I will” Dazed, Ulfur turned around and shouted, “By the moon and stars, I have been banished from the pack, but let us have one last howl together!” Alpha Rurl glared at Ulfur, but led the pack with an accepting howl. Before long, the whole pack was howling together. The harmonious howl echoed across the mountainside and drifted into the peaceful night air. The full story is 2209 words long. It took me 4 hours. I wrote it for school and have loved it since.
