But, you can also think of it this way: What is the probability of not losing in the 1st round? 4/5. What is the probability of not losing in the 2nd round? 3/4. What is the probability of not losing in the 3rd round? 2/3. What is the probability of not losing in the last round? 1/2. So to win, you have to not lose in the 1st round, AND not lose in the 2nd round, AND not lose in the 3rd round, AND not lose in the last round. 4/5 * 3/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 = 24/120 = 1/5
