*LIARS - PART EIGHT - "WHAT IS LOST"* Days passed. Don't ask me how many, I'll probably never know. But looking back at it, it feels like it went by as fast as a passing car on the racetrack, and trying to remember was as difficult and ridiculous as trying to catch up with it. I'd gotten a half-time job at a cafe, where I would come nearly every night to clean up the mess the other workers and customers made. Luckily, I wasn't alone, as Jose had been accepted into the job as well. Verina began going with Delyndra to work, and we where all able to pitch in on buying all the things we needed for "the attack" as we called it. So there I was, sweeping the floors of the cafe. It was half past one, and incredibly dark outside. I was so tired, I felt as if you could crack my head just like an egg and a yolk would come out. As I swept more, I felt tempted to lay on one of the large leather living chairs, and drift away to sleep. But I don't get payed for that. I get paid for labor. Jose didn't have the same shift as me, but if he did, I'd be much more comfortable; - creepy people come out at night, and walking home with a buddy would be much more safe than walking home alone, cold, and vulnerable. I was almost startled as I heard a knock on the glass door. Hesitantly, I turned my head to see Delyndra and Verina standing under the flickering light on the outside sitting area. I smiled, and ran to open the door. "Delyndra! Verina!" I exclaimed, "Come inside! I'm so tired, I feel like I'm going to pass out!" They both nodded, "Oh, poor you!" and "Your shift's almost over!". Kindly, they helped to clean the floors and counters, and then we went on our way. My sore feet pounded against the sidewalk on the way home, my eyes ready to slip out of their sockets. I yawned, my breath visible in the wind. It was winter again. I was wearing a thick fur coat, boots and a winter hat. Looking up, I saw the first of the snow falling down. One by one, small snowflakes drifting down to the ground could be seen. However, this year was not one I would spend in cheer. Nor would it be one where I had any sense of the "holiday spirit" as it's called. I wouldn't be like the many who sit by the fire and eat hot meals whilst they look out of their frost-covered windows, or the many who frolic in the snow, throwing snowballs and wearing warm clothing, such as knitted scarves and hats made by their grandmothers. No, this year I would spend the holidays plotting for the grand termination of the facility. When we arrived home, Jose was asleep on the couch with the remote for the television in his hand. "I think we're ready," said Delyndra, "We have everything we'll need." I nodded, "We'll head tomorrow, right?" I asked. "We don't know how much time you guys have left, so I'd want to leave as soon as possible." Delyndra told me, "So, yes. You guys better get rested up." "Good night." Verina said all of a sudden as she headed toward the hallway. We both waved at her, but then I turned to Delyndra. "I won't be needing any sleep for a while." I said. And so I waited for everyone to fall asleep as I stared out the window, watching the starlit sky and darkness taking over the city as one by one, lights went out. I found myself falling asleep on the floor, my dreams taking over my consciousness. *To Be Continued...* *LOVE, FAVORITE, SHARE!*
