Instructions

Hello User, and welcome to Windows 2000 Advanced Server! The beta of the full operating system has been released to the public for users like you to enjoy! For tips on how to use the OS, refer to the Help Section below. If you would like, read the instructions, but if you generally know how to use Windows, you can skip over them. Enjoy!                                    Help v 1.1:                                        Basic Tips: | A window is the rectangle shaped box that you see programs in. (For example, the Recycle Bin window appears when you click on the Recycle Bin icon). | To exit out of a Program, File, or Folder (excluding Setup programs), simply click the X button at the top right-hand corner of the window. | A cascade menu is a menu that drops down or comes out facing sideways that has links to Programs, Files, etc. | Full screen is not recommended, since Windows 2000 uses bitmap imaging. Therefore, it will be hard to read and very low quality. |                                                                                                                                        Starting Setup: Press the Green Flag in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Setup will start. Read the instructions on the blue screen. Follow them until you get to the Setup Wizard.                                                                                       Using Setup Wizard: Read the instructions stated in the Setup Wizard Windows. Follow through with the instructions, and click Next to proceed to the next Window.                                                                                  Navigating the Desktop: Once Setup is complete, the desktop should appear. In the top left-hand corner of the Desktop lies the My Computer Icon. Below it is the My Documents Icon. Then, at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen is the Recycle Bin. In the bottom left-hand corner of the desktop is the Start Menu. To use My Documents and Recycle Bin, simply click on the icons. For guides to using My Computer and the Start Menu, look into the next two sections of Help.                                                                                   My Computer: A Guide: To start My Computer, click on it's Desktop Icon. Three icons will appear, and they will be Local Disk (C:), Compact Disk (D:), and Control Panel. To use Compact Disk (D:), simply click on the icon. To use Local Disk (C:), click on the icon, and then the folder Program Files should appear. To use it, just click on it's icon. To use the Control Panel icon, click on it, and four icons should appear. Add/Remove Programs and Display are currently in development, so the can not be viewed by the general public. To use System, just click on it's icon. To use Admin. Tools, click on the icon, and then the Command Prompt shortcut should appear. If you click on it, it will take you to Command Prompt, a very important administrative tool.                                                                                   Start Menu: A Guide: To use the Start Menu, click on the Start Button. 7 Icons will appear. When you click Shut Down, you will be prompted to shut down the OS. When you click run, you will be prompted to run a program called Command Prompt. When you click Help, a message will pop up telling you how to use it. When you hover over Search, a cascade menu will appear saying that Search is under development. When you hover over Settings, a cascade menu will be shown revealing a link to the Control Panel. When you hover over Documents, a cascade menu will show revealing a link to My Documents. When you hover over Programs, a cascade menu will appear, showing a link to Command Prompt. After you power of,you can turn it on by pressing the green flag.                                                                                   That is the end of Help.
