*LIARS - PART FOUR - "ESCAPE"* After a few hours of trying, we where able to break the window. Although it had taken a lot of punching, kicking, smashing, and leaning on, we managed to do it. I felt a pit in my stomach again. When I was Alister, I always was afraid of heights, and my room was pretty high up. Around the room there was pipes, lots and lots of pipes. We assumed the pipes would be strong enough to grab onto so that we could climb them out of the facility. We had decided to use the pipes to get onto the roof, and I was the first person to be pushed out the window. "Come on, Hugh, you can do this." Verina assured me. "Thanks," I nodded with a smile on my face, which soon faded away. "My name's not Hugh, though." "What is it, then?" she asked. "I'm thinking of changing it to Roosevelt." I said. "Roosevelt?" Verina crossed her arms, "Where did you hear that one?" "It was the name of the street I used to live on when I was..." I hesitated, "You know.." "Still dreaming?" Verina finished for me. "Yeah, you could say that..." I laughed nervously. I eventually pulled myself together and leaned out of the window, where I could reach the pipes. My mind was racing, and my heart was pumping fast. As I was dangling from the rusty old thing I was holding on to, I looked down at the facility below with drops of sweat just squeezing out of my pores. I was able to gain enough strength to climb up on top of the mass of pipes, in which I could feel some sort of thing - most likely water, - pumping through at extreme speeds. I would've stood up if I wasn't so high up, but I crawled, staying close to the pipes if I ever slipped and needed to grab on quickly. as I scooted over, I looked back and saw Jose climbing out of the window, ready to grasp onto the pipe just as I did. I looked over, and continued climbing on the pipes. Down below me was windows, and on the way bottom, tunnels, rooms, everything was painted white but was covered in rust. I could almost hear screams, voices crying out to me, "Take me with you," and "Don't leave me here,", while it pained me to ignore the thoughts, I went on. Jose climbed onto the pipes with me. "You doing good there, Roosevelt?" he asked, although I knew the "Roosevelt" part was just an attempt to mock me, but I just ignored it. "Yeah, I'm doing fine." I told him. Suddenly, a particular pipe I was holding onto snapped, letting out gallons of a strange blue-ish material, which felt like it was electrocuting me every time it touched my skin. It had shocked me so much, I let go of the pipes, slipping off of the platform altogether, plummeting down. I could hear Jose yelling to me as I fell, but trying to listen to his voice was like trying to focus on a particular tree while looking out the window on a moving train. Although my life was in danger, I never felt so free. I felt like I would just never touch the ground, like I would always soar through the air, no sounds but the wind whistling in my ear, to never feel pain, to have any tears blown away, to feel completely safe. It was all of a sudden, my body was shot with pain. My eyesight went blurry, I probably wouldn't be able to make out a square from a circle if I was asked. Suddenly, I blacked out. I couldn't see anything, and I was trapped in a state of unconsciousness for what seemed like hours. "Hello!?" I said, but my voice felt weak. "Is anyone there?" I repeated. "Hugh!" shouted Verina, "Are you okay?" I felt my eyesight return, although I still felt very disoriented, I still could see. "Verina... is... is that you?" I asked. "Hugh, you're too hurt to move. You just fell ten floors down, it's a miracle you didn't break your back." she told me. I tried to move my left arm, but it didn't work. All it did was cause my arm to slip downward a little, which hurt terribly. "Don't try to move that." said Verina, "It's broken." "It's the only one? Are you sure?" I asked. "She checked," said Jose, "It's the only one. We'd better keep moving if we want to get out of this place, though." I nodded, and was able to get up. I still had to limp though, because my legs still hurt from the impact. Suddenly, an alarm went off. Everything seemed to flash red, and the sounds of a blaring alarm where so loud I couldn't hear myself think, but I was able to keep up with Jose and Verina. As some workers(who where dressed heavily) began to chase us, I had to speed up, despite the pain. Right now, my only concern was escaping. We reached an entrance, it looked like a parking garage, and it obviously lead out. Verina, Jose, and I all ran down, with the people in jumpsuits still chasing us. One of them had a gun, and fired it at Jose, who was somehow able to dodge the bullets. "Run!" he shouted. And I ran as fast as I could, breathing heavily and pumping as much blood as ever. I finally saw the sunlight, and I ran towards it, although Verina was far ahead of me and already made it there. A tear streamed down my face as we made it out of the garage, and Jose followed straight after me as I ran out. As I leapt out, I felt like a weight had been taken off my chest, like a part of me was free, like a hole inside me had been filled. "We did it!" I cried, "We did it!" Now all that we had to do was make it to that next town. *TO BE CONTINUED..* *Comment, Love, Favorite!"
