i walked through the dark and wet alley, alone and freezing. i had no idea where i was. why? I had not been able to see since an accident when i was little. My eyes were stuck closed, but i pulled them tighter. a scene passed through my mind. I could see it as clearly as day. the rain faded from my back, and the feeling of sun was there instead. A memory of warmth. * "Where are we going?" i said. I walked beside my mother. i could see her then. I was excited. she had said that we were going to see a special place. "If i told you it would not be a surprise." she said somberly. I was confused. She had used to be a wonderful and talkative person. But now... she barely noticed us. I walked faster to keep up with her. my sibling did also, his white fur sloshed with mud. my fur was too. so were Mama's paws. Oh, Mama. I never knew her real name, or if she even had one. I heard a loud noise. Mama stopped and stared into the distance. Her pupils got smaller. her ears laid back on her head. "No... I didn't even make it to the boat..." she whispered. I was about to ask what she meant when the ground slid away from underneath me. "Help!" i screamed. "Mama!" the ground shook so hard I couldn't move my paws. Then white fur went into my vision. "What's happening?!" White shouted. The building in front of us creaked. where was Mama? I turned my dizzy head. and saw black fur running away. Why was she leaving? Then all I could see was dust. And all i could hear were screams, both cat and human, and the sound of rock scraping the ground. My brother. I had to help him! I foolishly, quickly opened my eyes.* I try to hide this memory from my mind, but i cannot. It just goes on. *All I can feel is pain. My eyes make me want to scream, but my mouth feels sealed shut. something soft is on top of me. I get up from underneath it. I painfully open my eyes. all i can see is a white blur... No... White! His eyes lay open in pure love. He had saved me. I closed my eyes. Forever. I never would open them. ever.* in the dark alley, i cry. and decide that i have waited long enough. I open my eyes and welcome a world of both peace and war. i still cannot see, but in a way i can.
