Left and right arrow keys! This is my second realism attempt (My first being Rey) The process is a little choppy, sorry about that. I had over 110 layers :P -- Finished Work -- 1. "Detailed sketch, getting the proportions in". This is the sketch, all done on one layer with the pencil tool in dark gray. (The hair is random, I just basically drew random locks of hair) 2. "I draw the eyes first" I usually draw the eyes first bc when I was younger I did an art class for school and I was taught to start with the eyes. (Also bc eyes are tricky and if I draw them well it gives me confidence to finish the drawing XD) 3. "The nostril, lips, and base for the face" I don't draw the nose, because it is mainly shaped with the shading around the face. That little blotch of shading you see by the neck is bc I accidentally drew on the base layer. 4. "Main shading down on a clipped layer with airbrush" The nose is more defined now, see? :P This is mainly getting the light side of the face and setting the tones. (Also you can see that I accidentally didn't have the white part of the eye turned on.. oops) 5. "More detailed shading on a new layer" The colors are darker so the face looks more 3D and real... 6. "Starting on the ear (I struggle with ears a lot) First off, I turned the eye white layer back on *phewf*. This is making the shape for the folds of the ear. The ear on my Rey realism wasn't very good, which is why I tried to make it look more realistic with Hermione 7. "More ear shading" 8. "Drawing the main locks of hair and where light falls" The hair was the hardest part for me. It was really hard to make it look accurate. I drew locks and I tried to make the hair look really shiny (which is not actually in the reference picture) I also darkened the edges of the ear a bit :) 9. "Filling in the hair and also the hair clip" This is getting the hair more volume. 10. "Darkening the hair + filling in gaps" I also shaded the hair clip more. The hair is pretty much done now. 11. "Drawing the sleeve and the base for the hand" The sleeve is a little rushed. I used the soft pastel tool to get some of the texture. The hand was drawn with the pen tool, as was the hair. 12. "Shading the hand" I pretty much used the same principles are shading the face. I eyedropped from the face to get the same tones. (I did not eyedrop from the original picture at all) 13. "Drawing the watch.." 14. "Then filling in the shirt gaps around the neck (finishing touches" I drew the color of the shirt, and the Gryffindor tie in this step. I will still keep practicing realism, and maybe make up some characters of my own to draw :) I changed mine from the original: - The direction the eye is looking in - The hair (a lot) - A few other things too, and a lot of things accidentally XD
