Amberpaw set her paws lightly on the leafy forest floor. The rabbit was still blissfully unaware of her presence. She pounced, the rabbit's quivering tail twitched once, and was still. The small brown tabby headed proudly back to camp. Her mentor would be so pleased! As Amberpaw neared the hollow, she heard the screeches and yowls of fighting cats. Neck fur bristling, Amberpaw raced into camp. Her friend, Pebblepad, was trapped between two rouges. Amberpaw flung one rouge into the brambles and faced the other, a dark gray tom. She and Pebblepad began driving him back with powerful blows. "Retreat!" The leader of the rogues yowled. The enemy cats turned tail and fled into the undergrowth. ✥ ✥ ✥ "I, Stonestar, leader of Mistclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Amberpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." Amberpaw said, quivering with excitement. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Amberpaw, from this moment you will be known as Amberheart." Stonestar mewed, "StarClan honors your your courage and speed, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Mistclan." "Amberheart!" "Amberheart!" "Amberheart!" Amberheart could barely contain her excitement and pride as the clan retired to their dens and she sat silently in the warm night of greenleaf.
