Chapter 11 Rumors “Thank you Mr. Sonic!” “Your welcome kiddo.” I said as I handed a kid back a picture of me with my signature on it. I glanced behind him at the line behind him. Long as always. This was going to take a while. Tails was standing beside me at the end of the table. “Just a few more signs and then you can have the rest of the day off early.” He said, swiping at his tablet. “Although, then you have to come in tomorrow at 7:30 sharp so we finish the scene in the movie. Oh and it's a dress rehearsal.” {go in the project for this part.} As Tails hopped away in his car, Shadow sat down next to me at the table. I cringed slightly, not wanting the fans thinking something was wrong. As I handed out a couple more signatures, I decided to take a break. “Alright everyone! I’ll be available to sign some more after a couple minutes. You can either leave or stay, up to you. But I’ll be back.” I stood up from the table and walked behind the wall behind it. Since it was an outdoor signing, people could mingle around and not try to bother me because there was a lot more security. I gazed around the park. Somewhere. I relaxed as I leaned back against the wall, and Shadow did too. I tried not to look at him as I looked at the scenery around the park, but he was the one to start the conversation. “I thought after you being a,” He waved his hand around. “Superstar-” “Megastar.” I corrected him. “Right. After being a megastar, I thought your social anxiety would have faded away.” I flushed and gave him the side eye. “I don’t have social anxiety.” “Then why every single time you're around your fans, you always have to take a break a couple times?” “How do you know that?” He shrugged. “I just do.” I rolled my eyes, knowing I won’t get much more of an explanation from him. I took a couple deep breaths, and closed my eyes, trying not to think about anything whatsoever. I felt Shadow scoot closer to me, so close that my head was practically leaning against his shoulder. (I KNOW THIS DOESN’T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE SHADOW IS 6’5 AND SONIC HAS ASIAN GENES BUT GO WITH IT PLEASE-) I let myself enjoy the comfort while it lasted, and then walked back to the table. As I was signing more signatures, an interesting question came up… “Mr. Sonic…?” “Yeah?” “Are you and that guy dating?” I looked at the small girl, she was probably 8 or 9. She was an arctic fox with big ears and a long and fluffy tail. (GUYS DEF NOT MY SONIC OC AS A CHILD???) “I’m sorry?” I asked her, flabbergasted. “Are you and the emo hedgehog dating?” She said with a polite smile. “Uh…” I glanced at Shadow, feeling embarrassed. His eyes were just widened up with the slightest smile. “Don’t you ship.. Uh…” I had to remember the ship name. “Sonamy.. Right?” The little girl shrugged. “I mean I guess, but you and emo hedgehog look way cuter.” “He’s my bodyguard… you know he’s a guy right?” She shrugged again. “Who cares?” My face went red for a second. “Don’t you want an autograph or something?” “Nah. I saw Jade cooking something in the kitchen and gave us the same smile the little girl did. I rolled my eyes and decided to change into more comfortable clothes. I closed the door to my room behind me as Shadow leaned against the wall right next to it. I flopped down on my bed, grabbed a pillow, and screamed. Once I got all of my feelings out and changed into a pink crop-top with a low downward cut and black shorts. Oh damn. It's one of my old shirts. Too late now I guess. A knock came on my door. “Who is it?” I called. Jade was the one who was knocking. They closed the door as they walked in and sat down next to me on my bed. “So…” They asked. “How were the signings?” They said with a cocky smile. I gave a side smile. “They were… good.” I said. “How many breaks did you take?” “Uh… around 5 I guess?” They shook their head. “Sonic, it was only for an hour and you had to take a break every 12 minutes? Are you sure you’re okay?” “Yeah Jade. I’m fine.” “You don’t really seem like it.” “Sorry… things just have been tiring and weird lately.”
“I understand. You can always tell me though.” They smiled a sweet smile for a moment, and then she widened her eyes and adjusted her smile to a smirk and she grabbed her phone and showed me an Instagram post. “Take a look at what just went down today.” Confused, I grabbed their phone and squinted at the image. It was actually a video of someone in line right behind the same little girl who asked me and Shadow the odd question… and our faces turned a distinct red for a moment. I looked at the caption, and it read. “Sonic is dating a guy?” And multiple tags including “#bl, #sonicisbi??, #soniciscomingout? #agayfling??” “What is this?” I asked, surprised, knowing exactly what this was. “Looks like you had a little… sonadow run in.” “No. Way. You cannot just drop ship names like that.” I did a face palm. “This was definitely staged. No way that little girl could have come up with a question like that without someone asking her or something.” “WELL…” Jade said enthusiastically. “I 100% ship it.” I rolled my eyes and gave them back their phone. “I don’t think that's gonna happen kiddo.” “It definitely will! It’s just like one of the webcomics I’m reading!! And-” “The soap opera we watched? And yeah, you just had to watch the season finale without me.” “Okay, you were asleep!!” “Yeah people usually are asleep at 1:00 am!” “Not when you're watching the season finale of my favorite soap opera AND a new Squid Game season came out on the same day?? You know I binged that.” “Yeah, I woke up at 5 am to see you watching the last episode of Squid Game.” “It was worth it!!” They laughed. I started to laugh alongside them. As our laughter died down… Jade wore their signature smirk again. “So… you gonna tell everyone? That you guys are exes but your manager made him your bodyguard?” They took a pause, wanting to let that hang there. “Y’know.. I'm looking forward to another Dad.” My face flushed. “YOU CANNOT JUST DROP THAT INFORMATION RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CONVERSATION!” I said, embarrassed. “You know I will.” They laid their head on my shoulder. “But it's okay. I already have the best Dad in the whole world.” I pulled them in for a hug. “Thanks Kiddo.” “Your welcome, Dad.” We stayed like that for a moment, but then Jade pulled away. “I better get to sleep. Another Championship is on the way.” “Oh yeah, I almost forgot to ask. How was the Championship?” “We won. Like always. Y’know, I always feel like I carry the team.” I rolled my eyes playfully and gave a grin. “I did not raise you to be a narcissist.” “Who do you think I got it from? My nonexistent second dad?” “Okay, enough with the jokes.” I said, chuckling at the same time. “Go to bed you little winner.” “I’ll always be one!” They said as they strolled out of my room. I sat there for a moment.. Starry-eyed. I can’t believe I have a kid like that. I thought proudly. I laid down on my back on my bed, but before I could pick up my phone to do some late At night scrolling on Instagram someone opened my door.
