Made by Walt Disney Pictures and Rideback and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Lilo & Stitch is a 2025 American science fiction comedy movie. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, it is a live-action animated remake of Disney's 2002 traditionally animated movie Lilo & Stitch, with certain parts based on the film's animated sequels and spin-off TV series. Maia Kealoha makes her film debut as Lilo Pelekai; original Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders reprises his voice role as Stitch; Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, Zach Galifianakis, and original cast members Amy Hill, Tia Carrere, and Jason Scott Lee appear in varied supporting capacities. With writer Mike Van Waes and producers Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich attached, development on a live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch started in October 2018. Jon M. Chu was negotiating to direct by November 2020; Van Waes left the project but still has credit. In July 2022, Fleischer Camp and Chris Kekaniokalani Bright were named as the film's new director and screenwriter, respectively. Casting would be between November 2022 and June 2023. April–July 2023 and then February–March 2024 comprised the main photography. The score was written by Dan Romer, and the visual effects for the movie were supplied by Industrial Light & Magic. Lilo & Stitch made its premiere at Los Angeles's El Capitan Theatre on May 17, 2025, and was released in the United States on May 23, 2025. With $972 million globally, it became the second-highest-grossing movie of 2025 and shattered several Memorial Day weekend records. A sequel is in preparation.
