MV Conception was made in 1981 as a liveaboard boat. It was owned by Truth Aquatics, and was one of the three ships they owned. In 2019, while carrying 33 passengers and 6 crew, the ship caught fire. Only 4 of the crew, and none of the passengers, made it out, while the ship burnt to the waterline. It sank under tow, but has since been raised. It's not entirely certain what caused it to burn, but it seems that the likeliest theory is that the fire came from the trash can. Truth Aquatics soon ceased operations after this.
It will soon have been 6 years since this disaster occurred, the deadliest US maritime disaster since USS Iowa's turret explosion. Ref. image from Wiki by NTSB.
