Chapter 2 ( this is by @Cookmi-Meep ) -------------------------------------------------------- Today might have been the worst day of my entire life, and I don’t even think I’m exaggerating. It all started when I finally got out of bed after hitting snooze like five times. I looked in the mirror and saw that my hair was standing up like I’d been electrocuted. So, I tried to fix it, but then I accidentally knocked over a glass of water, which spilled all over my homework. Of course, I didn’t realize that until I sat down at the breakfast table and saw the giant wet blotch on my math worksheet. Mom wasn’t too happy about that, but she just told me to “try not to drown your homework,” which wasn’t very helpful. On the way to school, I thought I’d be safe if I just stayed quiet, but then I tripped over my shoelaces and fell right into the mud puddle. I looked like a human mud pie, and everyone from my class saw me. Rowley tried to help, but he ended up slipping too, and we both looked like we’d just lost a fight with a bucket of dirt. When I finally got to class, Mr. O’Neill was giving a pop quiz, and of course, I forgot to study. I just scribbled down random answers, hoping I’d get at least some points. Spoiler: I didn’t. Lunchtime was just as bad. I was trying to eat my sandwich, but I accidentally swallowed a fly that had landed right on it. I started coughing so hard, I thought I’d choke to death. Rowley looked at me like I was a hero, but I think he was just glad I was okay — or maybe he was grossed out. Then, I went to throw away my empty juice box, but I missed the trash can completely and spilled orange juice all over the floor. A janitor had to come clean it up because I was too embarrassed to stay. When I got home, I was hoping for a little peace and quiet, but no such luck. Rodrick was blasting his horrible music so loud that I swear my ears were ringing. I tried to tell him to turn it down, but he just made fun of me and said I was “probably deaf already.” I decided to sneak into my room and play some video games, but then I found out I’d left my controller in my backpack — which was buried under a mountain of laundry that I’d been meaning to clean for weeks. After digging through a mountain of socks and old pizza boxes, I finally got it, only to realize I’d left my game console in my backpack, too. And just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, I looked out the window and saw the neighbor’s dog, Sparky, digging a hole right in my yard. I yelled at him to stop, but he just wagged his tail and kept digging — probably looking for buried treasure or something. I decided I’d hide inside and pretend none of this was happening, but then Mabel came in with her latest “art project.” It was supposed to be a rainbow, but it looked more like a purple, squiggly monster. She wanted me to see it, but I was too busy trying to figure out how to fix my broken pencil. Honestly, Diary, I don’t know if I’m cursed or just incredibly unlucky. If I had a superpower, it would probably be “embarrassing everything I do.” Anyway, I guess I’ll just try to survive another day and hope tomorrow is less disastrous. Or at least funny enough to write about. Oh, and before I forget — note to self: never, ever eat cookies that Rowley gives you again, especially if they’re green. Just trust me on this one. I thought YESTERDAY was the worst day ever, I have never been more WRONG.
