Chapter nine ✉ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The slap of thunder in the creep and cold of the night startled all the students, laying tiredly in their dormitories. My eyes flew open, breathing hard on the upper bunk. The sliver moon slid away outside the window, being replaced by thick grey clouds and booming noises of thunder. I slid my hair out of my face reached for the ladder. I gently climbed down, avoiding the scattered blankets on the floor. Ryanne was also bolted awake, brushing out tangles nervously with her fingers. "What the-" she said, facing the window, mouth open, eyes wide. I spun round and then I saw it. Two horrifying eyes, red pupils and scaly skin were creeping up the window. Holding in my silent scream, I reached for my wand. Come on..I have to know some spells...I thought, pointing it at the window. The sudden noise of rasping breath had woken up the other roommates, including Lavender, she lay there speechless as they turned to the window is shock too. Someone screamed, loud enough to be heard. The figure melted away at the sound and left behind only a trail of black smoky ink. I lowered my wand and slipped on my slippers. Heading to the window, wand in hand, sweat trickling down my face, I knew it had vanished. My hand touched the freezing window as I peered down to see..nothing. The creature had vanished, leaving a horrid smell behind, I could smell it from the slits of the window. Ryanne creeped up nervously to see. "What was that-" she asked, looking at me worriedly. I could admit, living in the muggle world all my life, I had never encountered such experiences. "Don't know for sure.." I began "but whatever that was..it doesn't belong here..."
