Instructions

How did computers draw graphics when the only thing they could do is print characters? This project is a study of an old program from 1978 that draws images of a dancing demon using semigraphics or Unicode characters. I’ve also added a couple of Scratch abilities like gliding the characters around and added color. I keep trying things with the graphics so I may not be finished yet with this project. I also should mention that the original game was just in black and white. Any color you see in my project is something that I added as an experiment. Please won't someone ask why the demon has lines running through it.

Description

Credit for "The Dancing Demon". Written in 1979 by Leo Christopherson for the Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I. Source code is available from this site. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/32010/ZX81/Dancing_Demon You can play the game itself on this website: http://new.bigpants.ca/gamesiusedtoplay/index.html?gameName=DANCINGDEMON&gameLevelIndex=3 In my project I've included a small Easter egg. Select the H menu option, press space, then press the up arrow for a different looking demon.
