- SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 5 BELOW - I think this episode really shined a spotlight on Jax’s true character. The only other time this really happened was the brief conversation he had with Pomni in episode four. I always just depicted him as a rude and narcissistic charcacter who just upset the others for kicks, but now I think he only does it because he’s self-conscious. Ragatha angered him when she talked about him having no friends as they all abstracted, and usually Jax would just brush it off and pretend he didn’t care, but it seemed to really hurt him. He seems to enjoy having a role of superiority among the others and feels weak when he’s the one being laughed at or insulted, that’s why he bullies the others so much. He also never shows when he’s upset or angry because he feels he has to stay on top. I think his real life outside of the circuis was probably flawed as well, and that’s why he refused to talk about it when everyone else did and just made up dumb jokes instead. ANYWAYS. I know that literally nobody is gonna read all that but whatever. I think episode 5 is easily the best so far and the character development was much needed. The song is No Suprises by Radiohead
