it's pride month! pride month is a reminder to celebrate and uplift LGBTQ+ people and voices, not only in the month of june, but also year-round! in the past, LGBTQ+ people were discriminated against and taught that they couldn't be proud about who they were. so when police were persecuting gay people in june of 1969, the LGBTQ community fought back! this event came to be known as the stonewall riots, and were a key event for LGBTQ acceptance in the future. LGBTQ+ people should be proud of who they are, and be able to live freely, without fear of persecution. we celebrate pride month because we are still fighting for the rights of LGBTQ+ people. even after the stonewall riots, LGBTQ+ people are still fighting for their rights today, and persevering in the face of hate. if you are not LGBTQ+, there are still many ways you can support the LGBTQ+ community. if you have any LGBTQ+ friends, reach out to them and let them know you support them. even if you don't know anyone who is LGBTQ+, you still can create a safe space where everyone is allowed to be themselves. fight back against hate, and stand proud in creating a more inclusive world for everyone. stay safe, and happy pride! #pride #pridemonth #gay #trans #nonbinary
