Chapter three ✉ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You almost forgot Ruby!" Hermione's sly smile was priceless. The car doors swung open as we got out of the car to the train station. The cool breeze brushed my face as we collected our trunks. Rushed people staggered by in a herd of muggles, minding their own businesses. Mom wasn't sure of the idea about running through a wall separating two platforms but Hermione assured her that it works. "I won't be going inside, let's say our goodbyes.." mom said, wrapping her arms around me. I tried to breathe as I was squished into a mom+dad sandwich. After letting go, I gripped the handles to my trolley and prepared for impact. "Ready?" Hermione's voice called from beside me. "Ready." As fast as my little legs could carry me, I dashed straight through the wall and poof..disappeared. Before I knew it, I had crashed into something..someone. A girl, holding her trolley tight, whipped around, her light brown, slightly wavy hair being blown by the wind. She stared at me for a second, her dull, deep blue eyes into my brown, hazel ones before smiling and holding out her hand. It took me a second to realize why. I was lying flat on the ground, head up, facing this complete stranger, sister nowhere to be seen. I held it and she lifted me up to face her beautiful, smiling face and she looked to be my age. "Hi!" she said, her voice was gentle and sweet "My name is Ryanne. Ryanne Black." she said, pausing for a moment "You are...?" I calmed down. We might just become friends. "Lucy Granger" I said, shaking the hand that she had set out. "First year at Hogwarts too?" I asked, looking at her carefully. "Yes, first year" she said, looking happy to meet someone her age. "Pleasure to meet you." I said to her, returning the smile. We didn't get long to talk, right that moment, a huge train, titled "Hogwarts Express" in bold gold letters came swiftly on the tracks. Ryanne turned and pointed at the train. "Do you want to sit in the same compartment?" she asked, turning back to face me. "Sure!" I told her "but, I don't know where my sister is.." She noticed my looks, it seemed as if she knew how that felt. "You'll see her at Hogwarts" she assured me. We stepped onto the train. It was large, welcoming and musty smelling. Other students were scrambling onto the train too, leaning out the windows and waving back at their families. I wish Hermione was here to see me, see me with my new friend. The cabins were getting fuller my the minute and the sound of each one closing was a warning that there wouldn't be too many good ones left. Ryanne pointed to a cabin down the aisle and pushed it open with all her might. We loaded our trunks and plopped down on the seats...
