Before we begin I’d like to mention that this isn’t directed at any one or two person … Who am I kidding it is I want you guys to think about when age you were when you first joined Scratch. For me, it was pretty young. Let’s just say below 9, because I don’t really want to share that info. When I got onto Scratch, I saw really cool people, most of which you guys know. Meadowfoot, 9Rainbowtails, etc. I liked their comics. If I had to put an age rating on their comics or maps, I would say PG or even G. But here’s where it gets frustrating. Scratch is generally a website for people under 16. A lot of the kids who are on it are below 10. So when you, a ‘famous scratcher,’ make a map part with a song that revolves around a topic that younger kids should not be introduced to, do you think that’s okay? Sure, kids are getting introduced to more and more awful topics the more time goes by thanks to social media. So don’t introduce them to more! If they look up to someone and that someone was posting very adult/TV-14 content, they would think that that content was good and appropriate for them. Take Squid Games for example. Lots of famous scratchers on this site love squid games and draw art. But Squid Games isn’t an age appropriate show!! I haven’t watched it, and you shouldn’t unless you’re above 18! The reason I was introduced to a lot of stuff that gave me nightmares was very much because I went on this site, saw this interesting sounding video game, and read about the plot! A similar problem comes with HH and HB. If you don’t know what those are, I won’t tell you. But they are very. Very. Very. Inappropriate and severely problematic shows. The creator is not a good person. The show is not a good show and has a ton of harmful stereotypes in it. I see so many people draw fan art of the characters from those shows on here or have pfps of those characters. Why? You can do that on the cord. You can do that on insta. Don’t do it on a /kids/ website. Imagine if a kid went down the rabbit hole of curiosity and looked up HH or HB, and then watched the first episode. No. That’s bad. That’s icky. That’s making them think that those shows are good and normal. When someone they look up to likes those shows, they feel the need to watch it and like it, too. But let’s say the show is problematic or inappropriate for their age. And if they watch it, they might grow up a lot faster- a serious problem in our generation. So please, famous scratchers who know they have a younger audience.. Don’t make MAPS with songs that are from problematic creators/have problematic lyrics/aren’t appropriate for 9 year olds. Don’t make fanart of your favorite character from a problematic or 18+ show and post it on the site. This is very directed, I’m not going to lie. You know who you are. So stop it now.
