File: Organism: Drill fish Height: 13 cm Length: 25 cm, (Body), 10 cm (drill) Description: A close cousin of the spear fish, this creature uses its "drill" as a burrowing and self-defence device. Drill fish often live in burrows or sandy plains close to the surface, but are also sometimes found in deeper areas. What's intriguing though is that unlike narwhals, the "drill" of this fish isn't a tooth, but rather an extension of the skull, making it much more durable. Their main diet consists of smaller organisms like plankton, but they sometimes also consume small pebbles to help with digesting food. These fish are often passive, but could be harmful or even dangerous when feeling threatened, spinning at extremely high speeds in an attempt to stab its opponent.
