By intervening, the SCF has given the already alien hating(from post combine invasion) the perfect reason to fight back........ The perfect propaganda tool to rally the southern states to victory....... It has given the US the image of being a mere puppet of yet another alien empire, no different the the Dominion & Madrid being Combine puppets(or at least until right now, since the Dominion went rouge & created its own faction). It has all but confirmed the accusations that the US intends to eliminate their hard fought independence...... A Vietnam-like geurilla war begins to play out at SCF landing sites, with SCF troops constantly falling into traps, & ambushes by an enemy they cant even see due to the terrain of the Mexican mountains, & almost tropical deep south. Civilians begin leaving all kinds of obstacles to bog down their mechs. Cars are parked in the way of roads & paths, mines are buried into roads, & the constant bogging down leaves them exposed to hit-and-run ambushes. And on day 2...... The night sky was light up, as somehow a SCF ship in orbit exploded....... Followed by more similar explosions across the SCF fleet....... As it turns out, the guerilla's somehow(looks toawrds the Dominion) got their hands on "Sub-space Inversion Cannons", a device that uses a dilithium matrix to "reach out" across sup space, to the target. It then warps & bends it to eventually warp & bend the very space-time inside the enemy ship, destroying it from the inside out, ripping it into sub-atomic particles........ Shields & hull strength mean nothing...... & random geurilla fighters have acess to this technology...... A simple geurilla can take down a massive ship from orbit & vanish into the wilderness like nothing ever happened. The SCF main supply & communications system is being destroyed. After a few moths on intense fighting, SCF forces found it nearly impossible to advance, being constantly ambushed by an enemy who knows the land better then the back of their hands, & has fought many wars on it. It is not long until more weapons TOTALLY 100% NOT supplied via the Dominion are seen to be used, as eventually the coalition appears to have attached plasma-throwers onto their old repurposed US tanks, mowing down SCF mechs & troops alike. Meanwhile on the US front, the war is reaching a sluggish stalemate. Tho the coalition is making some gains with a few highly calculated movements, WW1 stye trench warfare is being seen across the continent, as what was meant to be a short conflict becomes a great continental conflict....... The war has left the coalition more united then ever, especially after the alien interventions. A more unified allied military is being established, economic policies for a long & bloody conflict are being installed, & millions are flocking to join the coalition ranks, especially after the orbital bombardment have created outrage towards the US & SCF. Warlords are now becoming less of criminal gangs, & more of military divisions. With many experienced warlord commanders becoming full on generals, using their experience & knowledge of the local terrain to their advantage. Many men, who just months ago were sworn enemies, are now united against a common enemy. As decades of divisions melt away...... The coalition is not just a rage tag group of warlords & small republics anymore, it is a fully established military power that has just now proven to rival others. (The Mexican areas are especially resistant to US-SCF occupation, as the war slowly becomes the "SCF' Vietnam".....)
