REBOOT - REWRITTEN Jax stood on a large crate, slouching slightly as he stared off. He chuckled lightly in his taunting voice. “Catch up, new girl. Y’don’t wanna get kicked out before you even join.” Jax lowered himself to a squat as he waited. “I said come on! I’m not gonna wait all day for you to haul your energy booster over here, and the boss sure won’t be as patient as I am.” Just then a dark, agile figure took a running start, then leapt almost dozen feet from one of the cargo crates, landed, then quickly did the same until they had caught up with Jax, whose mouth hung wide open. The figure took off her hood “Beat that.” Lighter grinned. “Had we known you could do that, you would've been let in earlier.” They both took a running start, then jumped an energy fence, landing in a hard concrete alley. “The boss’ll make sure your skills are put to use,” They climbed up pipes to the top of a staircase. “But are you sure street life’s for you?" He attempted to help Lighter off the stairs to the roof of a building, and was rejected. “I mean.. You don’t really seem the type.” “You’d better rearrange your optics.” She said, “‘Cause I’m gonna show Misko what I’m made of, gang or no gang.” Lighter ran a hand through her unnaturally black hair, causing the tiny glowing code-like markings to rearrange and shift. They gazed for a moment at Misko, caught in a world of forever night. Neon signs and lights blew up the darkness to illuminate the cybernetic city that Lighter called home. Jax suddenly walked over to a brick wall, and held his arms out to display it. “Welcome to Headquarters!” He announced with charm. Light crossed her arms with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. Jax turned and pressed a hidden virtual pad and pulled something small out from a pocket, held it up, and was admitted. He took a step back as a doorway-sized part of the wall swirled and disintegrated into thin bits of leftover hologram. They stepped inside, Lighter beside Jax. The room was small, and lit with a pale blue light. Half a dozen men ranging from Jax’s age to what looked like 40. Some sat, playing Hollocard games and others tended to weapons. Lighter stood in the corner, instantly blending in to the rigid, cold aura of the room, her stare beating any doubts about her out of her new comrades.
