Pride month 2025 is upon us, and as per usual, it’s pride month challenge time. Now first and foremost, the elephant in the room- yes, this year’s calendar is another double-identity calendar. While I will admit that last year I said that 2024 would be the only double-identity year, due to some.. unfortunate happenings within the last 5 or so months, I thought that giving support to the queer community was more important now than ever. 2025 has been, in all honesty, rough on not just many queer folk, but also several other minority groups as well. So before I continue, I just want to say that despite everything, you and the rest of us can get through this. It may be hard right now, and it might get worse before it gets better, but just know this: it will /always/ get better, whether that be now or later. So then, with that said, I should probably explain the context behind the calendar and this project for those who haven't been here for one of the other years before or are uninformed. In short, the pride month challenge is a challenge I've made, and is something I've been doing since 2022, making 2025 my 4th year doing so! For every day of the month of June, I post a project (or in this year's case, two projects) containing art of one of my characters for that specific day's identity, and the description of the project will have the identity's definition as well. The aim of the challenge, at least for me, is to spread awareness / representation about various queer identities and to give support to others in the community. But that's just me. If you want to join in on the challenge, then you can as well, and you don't have to follow exactly what I'm doing! You can draw your own ocs, characters from media, create new ocs / designs specifically for the challenge, draw characters made by others (as long as they're ok with it of course), etc. You also don't have to follow the calendar exactly. Seeing that 58+ entire pieces is,, a little daunting,, it's perfectly understandable if you'd prefer to just do 29 identities (excluding wildcard in that number, since that day's entirely up to you on what you want to do), or if you want to change some things up in case you don't have a character that fits the identity and/or aren't totally aware of the identity's definition. If you feel you can only do 30-ish pieces of art, I'd absolutely encourage you to only do what you feel you're able to do. Don't be like me and have to do 60+ pieces only a month in advance because you procrastinated haha. Also just as an extra note / heads-up regarding my own projects for the challenge, I just want to say now that they /will/ likely be posted at varying times of the day. Last year they were almost always around 12 am pst, however seeing that I'm not forcing my sleep anymore like I was last year, they will be jumping around when it comes to timing. Just wanted to say that in case anyone is confused in the future why one project is posted at like 12 pm pst, and the next is at like. 4 am. Well then, I think that's all! Again, if you want to join in on the challenge and use my calendar (whether it be to-the-letter or loosely), then you're free to do so! Credit is always very appreciated if you use my calendar and/or base your own version of the challenge off of it ^^
