A breeze swept softly over Green Hills on a summer evening. Down at the Mobious ice rink, a figure skating tournament was about to be held. Amy Rose Hedgehog tapped her skated foot impatiently. She and her friend Blaze, a princess from another dimension, were in the competition. All of Amy’s friend were there. Tails, a two-tailed fox kit who knew mechanics inside out, Knuckles, a buff echidna, guardian of the master emerald, Silver, a hedgehog from the future with a positive attitude, Rouge, a bat with sass, Shadow, the broody hedgehog who secretly cared about all of the friends, and Sonic, Amy’s speedy blue hedgehog friend… except, he wasn’t there. Sonic was late, as normal, but Amy could feel her patience wearing thin. With a sudden whoosh of blue and Green hill air, a blur shot into the ice rink building and stopped a few feet to the side of Amy. “And Sonic the hedgehog shows up in the nick of time to watch his bestie beat the other skaters into next summer!” Sonic said with a grin as Amy punched him playfully in the shoulder. “You’re late.” “I was building drama.” “You are very LATE.” “Whatever.” “Sonic!” Silver called from the bleachers, his explosive style of quills flourishing as he leaned to the side, “We can’t hold your seat forever!” Sonic turns to Amy with a wink. “That’s my cue!” “Get out of here before I yeet you.” Amy said, her eyes dancing playfully. Sonic held up his hands. “Okay, okay–“ He grinned. “Go get ‘em Ames.” He zipped to the bleachers as Amy took a playful swipe at him. He sat between Knuckles and Tails. “So Tails, did you— uhhhhh, what is echidna boy doing?” Tails rolled his eyes. “He said he could outmatch Shadow to a staring contest, but at this rate, he’s gonna melt his eyes.” Knuckles grunted beside Sonic, locked into silent combat with Shadow, who didn’t flinch. … After the tournament, the group was jittery with excitement. Amy and Blaze had won. “Ha ha! We did it!” Blaze said, pumping her fist in the air and yanking Amy in for a side hug. Amy grinned. “Ha! Yes!” Knuckles said, crossing his arms and grinning, “Victory not just of the sport, but of the soul, a deep connection between the two champions…” Everyone blinked in confusion. Sonic cocked his head, “Um, is he narrating?” Shadow his hand on his chest and blinked dramatically. “He’s having, a ‘Moment’.” Everyone burst out laughing, and Shadow rolled his eyes as his face flushed a bit. Amy yawned. “This was fun, but it’s getting late.” Sonic nodded. “Yeah, and Shadow needs his full three hours of sleep to brood tomorrow.” Shadow rolled his eyes. Silver grinned. “ Alright Blaze! We are hanging at Dad’s place tonight!” ~To be continued…….
