Беларуская Нацыянальная Тэлевізійная Сетка ("Belarusian National Television Network" in English), or БНТС (BNTN) for short, is a Belarusian free-to-air television network operating on channel 5. The station was originally founded in 1975 by the Soviet government as a regional television station serving the Byelorussian SSR, before officially becoming a national television network under Gorbachev, and later becoming one of the two state broadcasters since Belarus' independence in Dec. 1991. The station previously gained infamy for being noticeably pro-democracy (prior to 1991) and very pro-Tsikhanouskaya, with a reporter outright stating at one point that the Aug. 2020 Belarusian presidential election was robbed and that she deserved to win. This gained insane backlash from pro-Lukashenko audiences and protestors, but the network later apologized for the mistake and fired the reporter behind the incident.
