It's been about three weeks since I had my car accident (I'm okay now) and I finally got out of the hospital a day ago. Still recovering...because my left arm is still in a cast. Within the last few days, my art studio has been working hard on our comics (which is also MY top priority to finish!!) We tried several art styles, but they didn't really fit in with the characters and plot. I WAS already thinking about changing my art styles too anyways, so here it is finally!! So yeah! I wanted to make this project because I’ve changed my art style to a more cartoon-like style (so that it's easier to draw AND animate in the future) and I wanted to talk about it! I recently discovered shading in my art "career" only a few months ago (sob), and have (probably) improved on it a LOT lol. While I love thick line art, being able to get more detailed has been way more fun, and I really like the direction my art has been going in lately. I’ve also started shading things more meticulously (in a good way), and with way more different elements, like more gradients, more smudging, and basically just mixing in the hard shadows with soft shadows more. I couldn’t really do as much of this detail with my thick line art style because thick line art meshes much better with simpler shading. I think the eye style MIGHT be very similar to some other artists, but maybe not. And, line art hasn’t really ever been my favorite step of the art process for a while, and honestly it’s so refreshing to get that fun back lol :3 Basically, I changed my personal OCs head and body design, but the hair shape is still about the same! Do you guys have any suggestions to my personal OC? (Like any suggestions?? Comment if you do have any but I’m not expecting anything lol it’s all good) :D [ Steps in Order ] 1 - Rough sketch 2 - Line-art 3 - Colours w/ saturation/simple colour base 4 - Right eye (finished) 5 - Left eye (finished) 6 - Head outlining 7 - Hair + Body outlining 8 - Hand outlining 9 - Hair colour fill-in 10 - Remove line art + add simple lighting and shading 11 - Finishing colouring 12 - Add face + neck shading 13 - More shading!! 14 - FINAL outline :) 15 - Done <3 (I used kleki for this btw but I use Procreate and Ibis Paint sometimes too!!) Adoormeh: "Change up the way you draw every once in a while, it’s really fun! And you might improve your art because of that! Same for your characters, redesign the heck out of them if you’re getting bored!"
