Space, click, or right arrow for next page in the project Or, you can simply read through the transcription here!: Hello! Welcome to my manager application for the Gaehive! In this project, I will be discussing how I would benefit the Gaehive by being chosen to be a manager! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. About Me: Hi! I'm Sky, but some people also call me Ruby. My 18th bday is next week at the time that I'm writing this (it's on June 4!) I'm an aroace demigirl, and I've been part of the Gaehive for about 2 years now. My main Scratch account is @Ruby_Crystals, but I am sometimes also seen on my alt, @--SkyDrawz--. I am probably the most well-known on the Hive for my rainbow color-changing pfp currently. 2. What time am I usually online, and how often?: The timezone I use is MDT, or GMT-6(-7 in the autumn/winter). The following times will be shown in my timezone. I'm usually online in either the afternoon or evening/night, or around 2-5pm or 9pm-2am. I am generally a nighthiver, but lately I've also been seen in the daytime too, especially with it being summer break. In the summertime (right now), I would say that I'm online at least twice every 3-4 days, but that can depend on how busy I am. During the school year, I tend to be much busier and usually am only seen once every week or two. I am going into college in the fall, so I can't say if I'll be more or less busy than I was in high school yet, but I think a reasonable guess would be that I'll be online somewhere around once a week. 3. Why would I be a great manager?: 3a. My Experience: The Gaehive wouldn't be my first time managing a studio. I was one of the lead managers of Project BOP, which was an initiative that was made with a similar goal as the Gaehive: to create a safe space for people and to encourage kindness and positivitea. Unfortunately, the initiative is no longer active, but it taught me a lot of the skills needed while it lasted. 3b. Spreading Positivitea!: If there's one thing that I think people would agree with about me both online and in the real world, it's that I am generally a really sweet and happy person. I really enjoy telling sweet, silly, wholesome stories, and I'm going to try to be the light that brightens someone else's day. I'm always there whenever someone needs someone to talk to, and my profile is always open to talk! I'm ready to lend a hand whenever needed! 3c. Helpful: As a member of the Gaehive, I have already helped people out several times, from helping newer members better understand any studio rules that they have questions about, to offering spam and euphoria to those in need. I already prioritize helping people as much as I can, which would make me a great example to the rest of the Hive as a leader. 4. What are my weaknesses to keep in mind while considering me as a Gaehive manager?: 4a. Busy Schedule: As I am going into my freshman year of college, I am going to be busy during the school year, so I may not be as active as I'll be in the summertime. This was an issue that I ran into quite a lot last year, and I've spent the past year focusing more on balancing everything that I have to do. I'm still not perfect at it unfortunately, but I have gotten better at it, to the point where I feel comfortable with taking on the responsibility of being one of the Gaehive managers. 4b. Forgetful: I am not the greatest at remembering what needs to get done and may need a reminder about things sometimes. I live a pretty eventful life outside of Scratch, and it can be easy for me to forget things. There are times when ADHD gets the best of you, if you know what I mean. I will say, though, that when I was one of the managers of Project BOP, I did figure out a solution to this that I could apply to the Gaehive as well. I found that it was very helpful for me to write down important things for me to remember in a separate studio that I could then refer back to any time that I needed a reminder about something. 4c. Disorganized: Though it may come as a surprise to some, I am generally not a very organized person. I tend to be pretty decent at making myself on Scratch look decently organized, but I'm actually sitting here with 145 unshared projects, with about half of them being projects that I never got around to finishing. I don't imagine that this will become a big issue with managing the Gaehive since it really wasn't an issue when I was managing Project BOP, but I thought I would include it here anyway and be open about it. 5. What are some unique things that I'll bring as a Gaehive manager?: 5a. Positivitea Threads!: The first thing that I would like to do as a manager is introduce a Positivitea Thread of the Shift, where people could share something good that happened to them that they want to talk about! These threads would be updated whenever it was a new manager's turn to host, to help accommodate for the comment thread limit on studios. (continued in Notes and Credits)

Description

(continuing from Instructions) The thread would be started in the Mainhive comments section at the beginning of each shift, and then there would be a section in the description of the studio where we could link the current shift's Positivitea Thread of the Shift. This would help remind people that the Gaehive is supposed to be a warm and welcoming place. It would also help prevent the issue of people's good news comments being ignored and buried by creating a special place to share them and be seen. 5b. Story Generator!: Something unique that I already do from time to time in the Gaehive is the Story Generator! I ask the Hive for their name and pronouns to join, and I enter them into a Scratch project titled, "Random Story Generator" (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/731010401/). I then let it generate, and I swap out the default they/them pronouns the project uses to someone's preferred ones, if needed. I have found that it's a pretty fun way to have a nice laugh with the rest of the Hive, and most people enjoy the chaos that unfolds from it. 6. What I Would Improve; I want to improve the Gaehive by making it a safe space where people truly feel welcomed and feel happy to be here. It's no secret that there have been incidents where people haven't really felt welcomed here, and I would like to help fix that! I think we can start fixing that by making the Hive have a more positive atmosphere, and making sure that everyone is being kind to one another as much as possible! 7. What does it mean to be a manager of the Gaehive?: To me, being a manager of the Gaehive means always being ready to lend a hand, being ready to help out. It means doing the right thing and standing up for what's right, even if no one else is. It's being honest and being responsible and not only owning up to your mistakes, but also trying your best to fix them. It's maintaining a positive attitude and remaining calm and patient when problems occur, and trying to solve them. Last but definitely not least, it's being able to resolve conflicts as much as possible, while still allowing both sides of the story to be heard and understood. 8. Recommendations: 8a. Hilda! (@--silly-goose--) I would recommend promoting Hilda! She's very sweet, and I don't think I've ever had a conversation with her that didn't go super well! She also seems very organized, which would be really helpful for the future of the Gaehive! I truly think she deserves a chance to be our next manager! 8b. Foggy! (@fogg_) I think Foggy would make a great manager! Just like Hilda, she's very organized, and they seem really nice! I personally haven't had too many conversations with her yet unfortunately, but I haven't heard of a single time where they haven't been a super helpful and kind member of the Hive! And, that's everything I have to discuss here. Thanks for your consideration! - Sky <33
