RUN THIS PROJECT ON TURBOWARP unless you like taking things slow https://turbowarp.org/1181014518 ALSO USE TURBO MODE BY SHIFT CLICKING THE FLAG unless you *really* like taking things slow if you want to play a game instead of looking at some boring math images, consider playing limbo: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1163080976/ scratchs first ever kuwahara filter! yippee!! the kuwahara filter was originally dreamed up to take the noise out of images, but people figured out that the artifacts it left behind kind of look like brush strokes! in effect, it groups similar colors together. ive been getting really into npr (non-photorealistic-rendering) recently thanks to a certain youtuber (its acerola) and i wanted to try give the kuwahara filter a shot! after a lot of headscratching, it is complete! something funny is that my school tried to do npr on our yearbook covers which i was super excited to see!! except... it kind of looked really bad. they chose a really busy image to start with, and applying the filters they chose didnt really fix anything. it just turned it into a slurry of vaguely humanoid shapes and colors. and this is why im going to join the yearbook team next year - so i can show them how a "professional" does it in this project, i made both the basic kuwahara filter and the generalized kuwahara filter. the next step would be to make the anisotropic kuwahara filter but thats a lot more effort than i think im ready for ive also been messing around with fourier transforms, we will see if that turns into anything but yeah! i want to continue making some of these npr projects in the future, so let me know if you like them! tag jumpscare #kuwahara #filter #npr #guy #non #photorealistic #rendering #acerola #stylized #render
