Bompreço (Walmart Brazil) is a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets in Brazil, with its name translating to "good price" in Portuguese. As of March 2004, it is owned by Walmart. Bompreço primarily operates in northeastern Brazil, specifically in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco. Walmart Brasil, the operating company, is headquartered in Barueri, São Paulo State. Before being acquired by Walmart, Bompreço S. A. Supermercados do Nordeste, based in Ipatinga, Recife, Pernambuco, was owned by the Dutch retailer Ahold (now Ahold Delhaize). Currently, Bompreço supermarkets are being converted into Walmart Supermercado stores, while Hiper Bompreço stores are transitioning into Walmart Supercenters.
