Book 1: The Doomsday Castle Chapter 1: The Prophecy Somewhere, far far away, in a huge, brick and stone castle, there was a dragon like no other, with power that could shake the earth or break the ground. The king of dragons. He sat upon his red velvet throne, peering out the hardly visible panes of the stained glass window to his left. Suddenly, the doors of his chamber fell open. His trusted guard. The dragon said with pain, “Your majesty!” The dragon had almost no color left from him, as he must have been shocked by the most recent news. He barely could walk or breathe, and his eyes had been stricken with fear. The king of dragons stood up and out of his throne, and with a thud of his mighty claws, he bounded over to the horrified guard. “What is it?” the dragon king asked the trembling figure. The dragon could scarcely even say the words that trickled out his mouth in the end, “The war.. It’s not going to end.” The king of dragons flung his claws in the air, shrieking with anger. “WHAT? How do you know this?” the magnificent dragon howled. The much smaller dragon winced. “A prophecy.” The king simply looked offended, his face in a snarl, his claw far from the guard. “What is it this time?” With a sigh, the poor servant has no choice but to recite it. “Four heroes from each side, shall fight till they decide, ten stones shall reign supreme, but two heroes shall fall into an endless dream, one shall trick the other side, resulting in one gaining power of an endless ride.” The much larger dragon howled with rage. “Useless prophecies! We will conquer the dwarves and humans, prophecy or not. Thank you for informing me about un-important rubbish.” The dragon smirked. “You may leave now.” The frightened guard rushed away, far from the dark, coal-colored monstrosity that was the dragon king. “But I guess I could always send one or two dragons off to help.” the huge, black, dragon considered. Three weeks later, down, down, down, far below the mountains of dwarves, kobolds, and dragons, there was a tunnel. A young elf ran along it, leading from far below in the ground, all the way to the dense forest that held the elves’ kingdom. The elf knew that there was limited time, but luckily, he spotted more and more lanterns along the way, signaling that the cities were near. He had heard from his ally, the king of dragons, Shadow, had recently told him the prophecy. He had to get back to his kingdom to tell them the news, and decide which of the elves would go and destroy the horrible, cruel, resource hoarders. The humans. The dwarves. He knew the reason that he agreed to join the war was for that reason, but either way, the others would help him in the destruction of the filthy villains. Luckily, he soon found himself at the exit of the long and wild tunnel and at the forest, where lied the sprawl of wooden houses and shops. “My kingdom!” he shouted. “I have urgent news. One of you must rise up and stop the cruel ones from draining the resources. I have considered five of you for this opportunity. I will let you know when I have chosen.” The loving elves cheered and prayed that they would be the one that would go upon the mighty quest of victory. With that, the master of elves left them with the hope of victory. Quite close to the dragons, layed the village of the kobolds, the smaller, less docile version of the larger, winged, allies. Queen of kobolds, Slayer, watched over the villages and farms, knowing the prophecy. She knew it would be smartest to choose a vicious, eager for battle kobold, but what she also knew, was that would mean that nobody on their side would have a person of not strength but wit. From exploring her kingdom, she knew just who she would pick.
